Rules of the road questions

What are the legal limits that a bus driver or operator may drive?

Drivers may drive 10 hours in a twenty-four hour period according to Federal and State regulations.   

How many hours is a bus driver allowed in a 24-hour period?State and Federal regulations require a driver have at least eight hours off before they can drive again or go back on duty.  We recommend you allow 10 hours rest time for your driver. 

What if there are delays due to inclement weather?

State and Federal regulations allow bus operators to drive twelve hours, only if there is an unforeseen delay such as a snow delay or if stuck behind an accident.  If this occurs, it is required by law that the operator reduces their ten (10) hours to eight on the following day. 

 

Booking your charter bus rental

How far in advance should I reserve my charter bus rental?

It is always best to make your reservations at least 1-2 months in advance to insure you receive the specific vehicle you require.  When booking for holidays and high travel season it is recommended you book 2-3 months ahead.   

Can I get more than one quote?

Yes.  AllRoads will get you up to four (4) quotes. 

How does the AllRoads booking process work?

You will be emailed/faxed a confirmation of your booking.  You must make a deposit to hold a bus and travel date (only the deposit holds the bus and the date).  You will be given a contract explaining general terms and conditions and spelling out your itinerary in great detail.  

What method of payment does AllRoads accept for charter bus rental?

AllRoads accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express credit cards.  If your reservation is made well in advance, we can also invoice and accept personal, company and institutional checks.   

What type of deposit is required?

Once you accept the quote, you will be required to make 20% to 30% deposit.  The deposit holds the bus and the travel date.   

When is final payment due?

Final payment is due twenty (20) days before your travel date.  Charters booked within 20 days of the travel date require full payment at the time of booking  

What if I do not need the bus for the whole day?

AllRoads usually has a 4 or 5 hour minimum on bus.  For transfers typically made to or from airports, train stations, etc, there are short transfer rates for a one-way trip. 

What if our trip runs longer than expected, who is responsible for the extra time?

The AllRoads client is responsible for the extra time unless the extra time is due to traffic, weather or any other unforeseeable event. 

On overnight trips, am I responsible to find a hotel room for the driver?

The AllRoads client is responsible for the hotel room costs for the driver.  Typically, if a large group is staying at a hotel, the can offer a complementary room for the driver.  If the hotel does not offer a complementary room, AllRoads can find an economical room for the driver and book it for the AllRoads client. 

Do the buses have air conditioning, lavatories or TV/VCR/DVD systems?

Typically the large motor coaches come equipped with all these amenities.  Smaller size buses contain air conditioning but a special request for a minibus with TV/VCR/DVD systems will be needed.  If you require any of these options, let your AllRoads Account Manager know at time of booking. 

Do I pay for parking or tolls?

Road and bridge tolls and parking are not included in the price quote.  

How about tipping the driver?

We recommend you tip the driver if you are satisfied with the service.  AllRoads can include your tip at the time of booking.  It’s up to you!  Your Account Manager will ask you to select an option. 

 

On Board 

Are alcohol and smoking allowed on board?

Smoking is never allowed on board buses.  If you want alcohol, please ask your Account Manager at time of booking so he or she can search for the option.  To have alcohol on-board, you may be required to make a refundable or non-refundable deposit.  Kegs or glass bottles are never permitted. 

Can I bring a cooler on board?

Cooler are allowed on most buses.  The cooler must be placed on a seat so that the aisles are clear 

Can we get a bus that has handicap accessibility?

Yes.  Please discuss the ADA option with your Account Manager at the time of booking.
